THE HISTORY

Whether it's pursuing a trophy bass or the buck of a lifetime, night stalking wild boar with thermal/night vision equipment, or swinging on a flock of wood ducks as they cup through the oak trees, the rich Trinity River bottom habitat of the Ellisor Ranch will provide a unique and extraordinary experience for the most discriminating outdoorsman.

Although the ranch has been under an intensive wildlife management program for the past 15 years, Dr. Glenn Ellisor and his wife, Clairice have spent the past decade improving both the quality of the wildlife as well as the accommodations. After a long day on the ranch, clients can enjoy outstanding food and drink in the comfort of the 10,000 sq. ft. world class lodge.

WHITETAIL DEER

Whitetail deer hunting on the Ellisor ranch is nothing short of amazing. In addition to the large native deer common to East Texas, buck and does from several trophy ranches throughout Texas have been released on the ranch as well, to improve the overall genetics of our deer. Plus, our MLD program allows you to harvest deer in the ranch without using your tags.

Additionally, deer from breeders , like 4 year old Gamechanger (shown in this photo), have been released onto the ranch from our deer breeding facility over the past 5 years. In addition to the natural protein rich vegetation on the ranch, we plant approximately 150 acres of spring and fall food plots each year and feed protein year around as well.

HOG HUNTS

Although hogs are a nuisance for us as land managers, they are still fun to hunt.

In addition to day hunts, we also offer night hunts specifically for hogs throughout the year with infra-red and thermal equipment.

Hogs are also included at no charge on our all of our deer hunting packages.

This boar was one of the biggest that we've shot in recent years and tipped the scales at over 400 lbs.

FISHING ADVENTURE

We are not just about hunting. Fishing at Texas Racks & Quacks is actually pretty amazing.

We have a 9 acre lake, stocked with Florida strain large-mouth bass, hybrid bluegill and striped bass. We provide fishing only experiences but there is no charge for fishing during any deer or hog hunting packages.

If you fly fish, or want to learn, we have an affiliation with a guide whose clients have caught three state records on our ranch just this past year.

DUCK HUNTS

The Trinity River is a natural flyway for many species of ducks and our hunts can be fast and furious. Commonly limits of wood ducks and gadwalls are taken. However we also often get a mix of other ducks including teal, mallards, widgeons, spoonbills and mergansers.

Duck hunts are limited in order to provide a quality hunt.
